MAGNA mainly produces refractory masses for the steel production sector as well as magnesium oxide products for agricultural, industrial and environmental applications. The company has its own mineral resources at various locations and its calcination and masses production plant is located in Navarre.
MAGNA’s strategy consists in working in research lines in the field of circular economy, such as mineral resources exploitation, process efficiency and use of secondary products. The company also has research lines which provide solutions to environmental problems in the field of contaminated water and soil treatment as well as combustion gases.
MAGNA has its own resources in R&D and in laboratory, where 25 professionals are committed to improving products and processes.
MAGNA has experience in the LIFE programme, as it has participated in two projects within its framework. The company has also taken part in national calls as well as in H2020.
Within the framework of the 5REFRACt project, MAGNA will focus on the processing and development of new refractory products based on magnesia (MgO).
PILAR PEREZ DE ASIS
Pilar has a Degree in Mining Engineering from the University of León and a Master in Environmental Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid, as well as a Master in Business Administration from the Business School of Navarre and a Master in Corporate Social Responsibility.
She was in charge of mining production for several years and worked as a manager of environment, safety and quality. At present, Pilar is MAGNA’s Sustainable Development Director.
The challenges ahead require reinventing mining and mineral processing, optimising the use of resources and reducing the environmental footprint. R&D is a key factor in order to achieve the objective of circular economy and carbon-neutral activities.
